Fall appliance sales: real discounts or noise?

Fall multiplies appliance “events”. Some prices are real seasonal lows; others are struck-through theatre. Here’s a checklist before you book a truck.

Model first, % second

Without a SKU / spec sheet, the discount isn’t comparable. Two “55-inch” TVs are not the same TV.

Pick 1–2 target models. Flyers tell you if THIS model moved—not to fall for another reference.

Add delivery, haul-away, install

A fridge $150 cheaper + $120 delivery + $80 to take the old one isn’t a deal. Ask for the delivered total.

“Free to your door” has zones and dates. Read the line, not the banner.

Open-box and end-of-line

Fine if condition, accessories and store warranty are in writing. Less fine if you need a seal for insurance or a gift.

Photo defects before you sign. “Like new” is a sales line, not proof.

Wait for Black Friday?

Some big tickets drop again in November; others (discontinued model, dead appliance) won’t. If it’s broken, waiting costs a laundromat or a rental.

Set a target price. If fall hits it, buy. “Maybe 8% later” isn’t a strategy.

PromoSimple to filter noise

Compare 2 nearby banners on the same SKU. If the gap is small, the easier store (stock, service) wins.

A product alert (when enabled) beats checking every night.

SKU, delivered total, condition, target price. PromoSimple lines up flyers; walk-out total decides—not the biggest red %.
