Fall coats: buy now or wait for sales?

October: too early for deep winter parkas, too late for T-shirts. Flyers push mid-layers. Real need (cold/rain) beats the % off.

Weather blocker

Torn coat, kid who grew, bike commute in rain: buy the right one now. Waiting for a ghost 40% off costs a cold and a full-price panic buy.

Check size and returns. A non-returnable discount on the wrong size isn’t a discount.

Wait: nice-to-have stock

Second coat, colour, prestige brand: sale waves continue into November. Note a target price.

On PromoSimple, compare the same type (rain shell / softshell), not “fall collection” marketing.

Minimum quality

Seams, zip, basic membrane if rain. The logo doesn’t warm you. Read reviews on the exact model.

End-of-line / prior year: often the best value if the cut fits.

Kids vs adults

Kids grow: don’t buy two sizes “to grow into” at full price. One true size + a layer is enough.

Parent swaps / thrift for mid-season before new-on-sale.

One trip, one decision

Try in store or order with a clear return. Shipping five parcels “to compare” has a cost (time, fees).

Keep the receipt and sale end date—useful if price drops inside a price-match window.

Blocker now, nice-to-have with a target, exact model. PromoSimple aligns flyers; weather sets the calendar.
