What a target price is
The amount (or $/unit) below which you buy without guilt, based on 2–3 observations—not today’s struck-through %.
Example: this washer, $798 delivered. Not “30% off” a padded price.
When Black Friday actually wins
TVs, some laptops, toys, highly seasonal items. Even then: SKU matters. “55-inch” isn’t a price.
If you don’t need it until January, waiting for a known cycle can pay. If the appliance is dead, the marketing calendar doesn’t pay the laundromat.
What won’t drop more
Already-slashed end-of-line, in-demand pro tools, some entry appliances already on the floor in September.
Waiting “another $50” on a price that’s already your target is time. Set a personal deadline (e.g. 3 weeks).
How to watch without becoming a robot
2 banners, 1 SKU, one note. Not 14 tabs. PromoSimple + an alert (when enabled) beat the nightly ritual.
Ignore ad countdowns. Your date is your need + your target.
The cost of waiting
Rentals, panic buys, a worse replacement model at the same price. Write that next to “maybe 8% less”.
If the target hits in September, that’s a win—not a failure to wait until November.
Target, SKU, deadline. Black Friday is one cycle among others. PromoSimple shows this week’s price—not a life inside banner calendars.
